A joint team of Philippine National Police (PNP) personnel
and Philippine Army intelligence operatives has arrested a suspected ranking
New People’s Army (NPA) leader in Siaton, Negros Oriental.
The suspect was identified as Marilyn Badayos, 47 years old,
married, and who the police identified as a “wanted person” and a “NPA high
value target personality”, a report from the Amigo Cops Text Blast Project of
the Negros Oriental PNP Office said.
The police report said at around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, a
joint operation conducted by the Siaton police, led by its police chief, Sr.
Insp. Varie Villanobos, the Regional Intelligence Unit (RIU) and the Philippine
Army arrested Badayos by virtue of a warrant of arrest for homicide in Criminal
Case No. 15-101-B.
Judge Candelario Gonzalez of the Regional Trial Court Branch
45 in Bais City had issued the warrant of arrest.
Badayos, alias Mita/Jong is also the alleged NPA secretary
of the South East Front-Komite Rehiyonal Negros (SEF-KRN).
The law enforcers confiscated from the suspect one .45
caliber handgun with five rounds of live ammunition and alleged subversive
documents, according to the police report.
The suspect is now in the custody of the police for inquest
proceedings.
