Incoming Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Police
Ronald Dela Rosa asked senior police officials to cooperate with him in
fulfilling his mandate and improve the reputation of the nation's police force.
Dela Rosa, member of PMA Class 1986 asked senior officials
to recognize that he was appointed by President Rodrigo Duterte to lead the PNP
organization.
Dela Rosa’s appointment as PNP chief bypassed four PMA
classes: 1982, 1983, 1984 and 1985.
He made the statement in response to reports saying some
senior officials from upper classes were demoralized because of his
appointment.
lang...In-assign niya (Duterte) ako maging chief PNP so wala akong magagawa.
You cannot please everyone,” Dela Rosa said.
While he understands the senior officials' sentiments, the
incoming PNP Chief said they should act as professionals especially with regard
to the appointment of a junior officer like him.
“I am not here to make everyone happy, sa mga desisyon ko
may liligaya at may malulungkot,” Dela Rosa added, who will formally assume as
PNP chief on Friday in simple ceremonies in Camp Crame.
Earlier, Dela Rosa said he will immediately meet with the
newly-designated regional commanders and heads of various police units for a
command conference.
The command conference, according to him, will be presided
by President Rodrigo Duterte.
