From the Philippine News Agency (Jun 7): 2 soldiers hurt in Maguindanao IED attack

Two troopers from the 34th Infantry Battalion were wounded after being hit by shrapnel from an improvised explosive device (IED) attack in Datu Unsay town, Maguindanao early Tuesday morning.

Capt. Jo-ann Petinglay, 6th Infantry Division public affairs office chief, said the incident took place at 5:55 a.m. while the government troops were conducting patrol operations in Barangay Meta.

She did not give the names of the casualties pending the notification of the victims' next-of-kin.

Petinglay said they are still determining the identities of the perpetrators.

The wounded troopers are being treated at the Integrated Provincial Health Office-Maguindanao.
