An Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) camp, capable of housing an
estimated 200 bandits, were seized by troopers from the 14th Special Ranger
Company during operations in Maimbung, Sulu Tuesday morning.
Major Filemon Tan, Western Mindanao Command spokesperson,
said the camp was captured after a 45-minute firefight with ASG bandits headed
by Idang Susukan in Barangay Gulangan.
The encounter started 8:00 a.m., he added.
The operation is part of ongoing efforts to rid Sulu of the
ASG menace.
The captured bandit lair in Barangay Gulangan is equipped
with a water source.
Also recovered were gun parts, personal belongings and a
Honda motorcycle.
Tan said no casualties were incurred by government forces in
the clash.
He added that they are still determining whether any bandits
were killed and wounded in the encounter.
