Malacanang has expressed hope that the next administration
will pursue the peace process and its gains achieved by the government of
President Benigno Aquino III under the peace agreement with the Moro Islamic
Liberation Front (MILF).
Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO)
Secretary Herminio ‘Sonny’ Coloma Jr. believed that the peace process will not
go back to zero even if the Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL) will not be passed
before President steps down in June 30.
”What we have started should be continued so that we will
finally achieved the objective of the peace process,” Coloma said.
He said the determination of President Aquino to pursue
peace process will stay whatever the results of the BBL in the House of
Representative and Senate.
”The President will continue in convincing every sector and
stakeholders of society to give peace a chance,” Coloma said.
Coloma encouraged all the stakeholders should maintain the
desire to achieve peace by respecting each other at all times.
Under the Aquino administration, the Philippine government
and the MILF signed two agreements – the Framework Agreement on the Bangsamoro
and the Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro (CAB) that resulted to the
drafting of the BBL.
