In line with its environmental preservation and protection
missions, officers and enlisted personnel of the Cagayan De Oro-based 4th
Infantry Division have planted 1,150 narra and mahogany seedlings Friday.
Planting was done at the Diamond Heights Village Association
Incorporated, also in Cagayan De Oro, said 4th Infantry Division spokesperson
Capt. Joe Patrick Martinez.
An extra 50 narra saplings were also at hand to replace
seedlings that have withered earlier.
Major Gen. Oscar T. Lactao said environmental preservation
is one of the Army’s commitment to the Filipino people.
"With the current climate change we are experiencing
now, there is an immediate need to rehabilitate and reforest our environment.
This is to avoid further destruction during calamities and drastic changes in
our temperature," he added.
