From the Philippine Information Agency (Jan 28): 2 Kalinga rebel returnees receive gov’t. financial assistance

Two former rebels received early this January financial assistance from government to start normal life in the mainstream society.

Gemma Bawanta of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) said the assistance of P67, 700.00 given to each rebel returnee was made possible under the Comprehensive Local Integration Program of the Aquino administration.

This is broken down to P2, 700.00 for administrative cost; P15, 000.00 for immediate assistance, and P50, 000 for financial assistance.

The monetary value of their surrendered firearms was not released yet, Bawanta said.
