Arrested Philippine Navy Lt. Col Ferdinand Marcelino and his
Chinese cohort on Friday were transferred to the facility of the Bureau of Jail
Management and Penology (BJMP) in Camp Bagong Diwa, Bicutan, Taguig City
Marcelino, who is former official of the PDEA Special
Enforcement Services office and Yan Yi Shou, 33, a Chinese national, who also
worked for PDEA as an interpreter arrived at the BJMP around 2:30 p.m. escorted
by the Philippine National Police Anti-illegal Drugs Group (PNP-AIDG).
According to PNP-AIDG Chief Senior Supt. Antonio Gardiola,
Marcelino’s transfer was based on the memorandum of agreement signed between
the AIDG and BJMP.
Gardiola said the MOA provided that though the suspect was
still in the custody of the apprehending officer, the transfer could still take
place.
Under BJMP’s custody, Gardiola assures Marcelino’s safety
have enough officers to guard him.
Marcelino was first detained inside the AIDG headquarters in
Camp Crame ,
Quezon City
Marcelino was arrested during a raid in Manila
The suspect was charged with violation of Republic Act 9165
or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002.
Marcelino denied involvement in the drug trafficking and
attested that he was conducting an intelligence operation the same day.
Earlier, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) chief
Director General Arturo Cacdac Jr. denied that the agency had rift with the
arrested Philippine Navy Lt. Col. Ferdinand Marcelino.
Cacdac said that he was saddened when an issue came out that
there was a clash between him and Marcelino who even once fought against
illegal drugs.
Furthermore, he said that he did not have any idea why he
was being asked regarding the arrest of Marcelino.
Cacdac said that Marcelino must face the law and explain why
he was inside the mini-laboratory where the raid happened.
