AFP acquires 717 military trucks for operations, disaster response

From the Philippine Daily Inquirer (Jan 6): AFP acquires 717 military trucks for operations, disaster response
The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) has acquired about 700 brand new military trucks worth P1.937 billion to boost its mobility in operations and disaster response.

Army spokesperson Col. Benjamin Hao said on Wednesday that 327 of the 717 KM450 trucks from KIA motors in South Korea were delivered last December.

“The Philippine Army will get 219 of the trucks, while 108 will go the Air Force, Navy, and Marines.”

These new trucks are undergoing road tests and final technical inspection and will be turned over this month.

The rest of the trucks will be delivered at the end of the month, Hao said.

These vehicles will not only be used for operational purposes but will also be used for disaster response.

“This will not only help in operations but in humanitarian assistance and disaster response,” he said.
