A municipal
barangay chairman and another man were shot to death in separate shooting incidents at Barangays Sta.
Catalina and San Jose Gusu, Wednesday night.
Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) spokesman Chief Inspector Joel Tuttuh
identified the fatalities as
Angkang Manan y Pandaki, 45, married, barangay chairman of Tabuan Lasa, Salupin
proper, Basilan Province, temporarily residing at KGK building, Lustre St.,
Sta. Catalina, and Ansaldo Alegre y Conception, 36, married, of Sitio Gulayan,
San Jose Gusu.
Tuttuh said that at about 9:20 p.m. of Wednesday, Manan was standing outside
his rented apartment at KGK
Building when the suspect
suddenly arrived and shot him in the head.
The suspect hurriedly ran to his waiting companion onboard a motorcycle and sped off towards the direction ofVeterans Avenue ,
this city.
Motive of the incident is still unknown.
On the other hand, Alegre was walking towards Baliwasan Tabuk to visit his children at the house of his mother.
Tuttuh said upon reaching San Jose Gusu bridge, the suspect suddenly shot the victim in the neck then hurriedly embarked a public utility jeepney (PUJ) heading towards Barangay Upper Calarian.
Alegre was rushed toZamboanga

but was pronounced dead on arrival by the attending doctor.
Recovered from Alegre’s possession was a Caliber .38 Revolver with serial number N-11335, loaded with 6 ammunition and a spent shell of a caliber .45 pistol at the crime scene.
Alegre’s wife claims that the incident may be drug-related.
A deeper investigation is being conducted to establish the identity of the suspect for his possible arrest.
