The Philippine Air Force (PAF) has allocated some
Php5,990,700 for the maintenance of the ejection seat of one of its three
SIAI-Marchetti S-211 jet trainers.
The ejection seat is a system designed to rescue the pilot
or other crew of military aircraft during in-flight emergencies.
In most designs, the seat is propelled out of the aircraft
by an explosive charge or rocket motor, carrying the pilot with it.
Once clear of the aircraft, the ejection seat deploys a
parachute.
Pre-bid conference is slated for Oct. 21, 9 a.m. at the PAF
Procurement Center Conference Room, Villamor Air Base, Pasay City .
Submission and opening of bids is on Nov. 10, 9 a.m., in the
same venue.
The PAF operates three S-211s for air defense and attack
missions.
