Troopers of the 9th Infantry Division are now conducting
pursuit operations against the New People's Army (NPA) fighters who fired upon
patrolling elements of the 31st Infantry Battalion in Bulan town, Sorsogon
Wednesday afternoon.
The three-minute firefight between government security
troops and an estimated seven NPA fighters took place at 2:10 p.m. in Barangay
San Isidro, of the above-mentioned locality.
The rebels fired on the unit headed by 1st Lt. Alfie
Pagtibas Ayo using M-16 automatic rifles and M-203 grenade launchers.
No casualties were reported on both sides. Pursuit
operations are still ongoing as of this posting.
