Nurses' quarters gutted in AFP Medical Center blaze

From the Philippine News Agency (Sep 24): Nurses' quarters gutted in AFP Medical Center blaze

The nurses' quarters of the Armed Forces of the Philippines Medical Center at V. Luna Road, Pinahan, Quezon City was razed by a fire reportedly caused by faulty electrical wiring Wednesday night.

The fire started 7 p.m. and was put out by responding firemen before 8 p.m., said AFP Medical Center public affairs office chief Major Francis Herrera.

No one was reported injured in the incident. Around 43 firetrucks from various stations in Metro Manila responded, he added.

The affected area was located in the second floor of the AFP Medical Center.

Despite the damage, the AFP said there was no need to evacuate the patients as the fire-affected facility was far from wards containing wounded and injured military personnel.

Herrera said that the affected nurses will be housed on the training room pending investigation and repair.
