Faulty electrical wiring is being eyed as the cause of the fire that razed the nurses’ quarters of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Medical Center (V. Luna Hospital) on Wednesday night.

“There is no final report yet, but faulty wiring is being looked upon [as the cause of the fire],” Major Francis Herrera, public affairs officer of AFP Medical Center said on Thursday.

Fire broke out on the second floor of the nurses’ quarters of the military hospital at about 7 p.m. and was put out was shortly before 8 p.m.

Herrera said 43 firetrucks responded to the incident.

The second floor of the building was destroyed, but the other half was spared, he said.
The nurses were temporarily accommodated at the hospital’s training hall.

There were no casualties from the incident, Herrera said.
