SOLCOM provinces now ready for socio-economic activities, development

From the Philippine News Agency (Aug 12): SOLCOM provinces now ready for socio-economic activities, development

All provinces under the protection of the Lucena City-based Southern Luzon Command (SOLCOM) are capable of hosting activities favorable to socio-economic activities and development.

"In general, the peace and security situation in Southern Luzon remains favorable to socio-economic activities and development," SOLCOM head Lt. Gen. Ricardo Visaya said.

"Our quest for genuine peace is no longer a purely military endeavor but a shared responsibility by all stakeholders," he added.

As of this posting, SOLCOM units has so far neutralized, arrested, and killed 56 New People's Army (NPA) fighters and recovered 54 firearms for the first seven months of 2015.

Also, the declaration of the Provinces of Catanduanes, Camarines Norte and Sur, Albay and Rizal as "Conflict Manageable and Ready for Further Development" indicates that the civil authorities now recognize their role as the lead in orchestrating peace and security in their localities.
