The Maguindanao-based 6th Infantry Division joins the rest
of the nation in the month-long commemoration of the International Humanitarian
Law (IHL).
Under Executive Order 134, the IHL is commemorated annually
during the month of August and every 12th day of August thereafter, as IHL Day
to heighten public consciousness, awareness and respect for IHL.
With the theme, “Pagkakilala at Pagpapahalaga sa IHL,
Responsibilidad ng Lahat,” the celebration was highlighted by 6th Infantry
Division personnel reciting the Pledge of Reaffirmation of Commitment and
Support to International Humanitarian Law.
6th Infantry Division head Major Gen. Edmundo R. Pangilinan
reminded the troops to always respect IHL, human rights and the rule of law, in
response to terrorism and in the discharge of duties at all times.
“Let us continue to be the soldiers that the people can
trust, to protect their rights anytime and at any place. Let us respond to the
cries of the exploited when the need arises and uphold the right to human
dignity for all,” he added.
