Abu Sayyaf may be holding abducted Zamboanga Sibugay mayor in Sulu: source

From InterAksyon (Apr 9): Abu Sayyaf may be holding abducted Zamboanga Sibugay mayor in Sulu: source

Gemma Adana, mayor of Naga town in Zamboanga Sibugay province, was probably abducted by Abu Sayyaf bandits Monday night and taken to Sulu, an intelligence source said Wednesday.

The source, who refused to be identified, said he had received information Wednesday noon that “an unidentified female was sighted at Sitio Bula, Barangay Kuppong, Indanan, Sulu (in) the custody of Raden Abu,” a known Abu Sayyaf sub-leader.

“The victim is believed to be Gemma Adana,” he added.

The source said the victim “arrived last night (Tuesday) at 11 p.m.” in Barangay Buton Mahablo, Parang town in a gray speedboat with around 10 Abu Sayyaf gunmen led by Uddon Hassiem and “was received” by Abu and another Abu Sayyaf sub-commander, Idris Alhabsy.

Adana was kidnapped from her home in Barangay Taytay Manubo, Naga by gunmen who took her then fled onboard a motorboat.
