The Armed Forces of the Philippines has activated Task
Force "Kalinga" to provide medical care for the people displaced by
the ongoing government offensive against the Bangsamorong Islamic Freedom
Fighters (BIFF) brigands in Maguindanao.
AFP spokesperson Col. Restituto Padilla, in a briefing on
Wednesday, said the task force personnel would help medical teams from towns
affected by the fighting and local and international aid agencies.
Task Force"Kalinga" is composed of military
doctors, dentists and nurses.
About 41,000 persons have been affected in the ongoing
anti-BIFF operations in Maguindanao.
These people are primarily living in Mamasapano, Datu Unsay,
Shariff Aguak, Shariff Saydona Mustapha, Datu Salibo, and Datu Saudi Ampatuan.
The towns of Rajah Buayan and Datu Hoffer also have
evacuees, but are only serving as host to those who came from other towns.
