Explosion hits Basilan church
No property damage or casualties have been reported

An explosion rocked Lamitan City, Basilan, in front of St Peter Catholic Church, on Friday February 28, at around 9:25 pm. The explosion is believed to have been caused by an improvised explosive device (IED).
Authorities are still investigating the motive behind the blast.
No property damage or casualties have been reported. Local law enforcement responded to the blast and are securing the scene of the explosion.
"This incident makes me feel sad and caught me by surprise," said Basilan Bishop Martin Jumoad.
He added, "Let us not drag religion to let it appear that there is tension between Muslims and Catholics. This is the work of evil people and let us not be carried by our emotions."
