4 people hurt in separate blasts in Mindanao

From the Mindanao Examiner BlogSpot site (Feb 3): 4 people hurt in separate blasts in Mindanao

Four people were wounded in separate explosions on Tuesday in the southern Philippines, military officials told the regional newspaper Mindanao Examiner.

Officials said a fragmentation grenade exploded at a market place in Isulan town in Sultan Kudarat province wounding three civilians.

The blast occurred when a man hurled the grenade to another man whom he had an argument inside the market. The grenade thrower managed to escape following the blast.

The wounded were rushed to the Sultan Kudarat Provincial Hospital

Another explosion also occurred in the province of Basilan where a bomb had been detonated in Sumisip town.

The blast was believed to have originated from a landmine left at a rubber plantation in the village of Guiong. A farmer had stepped on the mine and it exploded. It was unknown whether the landmine was planted by wild boar hunters or rebels, who are actively operating in the town.
