Troopers from the 14th Infantry Battalion captured two New
People's Army (NPA) fighters during operations on Tuesday at Barangay
Balingasag, Oras town, Eastern Samar .

Major Amado Gutierrez Thursday said that government troops were conducting
routine peace and security operations when concerned citizens informed them
about the location of the rebels.
Soldiers immediately proceeded to the area and saw two
individuals fleeing the area, prompting government troopers to arrest them.
After searching their belongings, soldiers found in the
duo's possession nine blasting caps used for improvised explosive devices.
They were later identified as Bencito L. Montalla, 39 and
Jessie S. Gubala, 27.
Both were found to be members of NPA Yunit Militia of
Barangay Balingasag. The two were turned over to Oras Municipal Police Station.
