Elements of the 6th Infantry Division continues to be on high alert following the continued attacks of armed groups in their area of responsibility.
Last Friday night, the exchange of gunfire between the military and attacking rebels in Barangay Nabundas, Mamasapano, Maguindanao lasted an hour and a half.
Three soldiers were injured when suspected members of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters fired a grenade launcher at them, said 6th ID information chief Captain Joan Petinglay.
At about 7:30 p.m. Sunday night, BIFF members attacked the 2nd Mech Battalion in Barangay Kabinge, Datu Saudi Ampatuan, wounding two soldiers.
At the same time, a grenade lobbed at a military checkpoint in Sambolawan, Datu Salibo, also past 7 p.m. Sunday fortunately failed to explode.
The perpetrators who tried to bomb the checkpoint were on board a HiLux vehicle, Captain Petinglay added.
BIFF spokesman Abu Misrie Mama owned up to the series of violent incidents in the province.
