From the Philippine News Agency (Jul 13): Two soldiers hurt in encounter with rebels in Quezon town

GEN. NAKAR, Quezon -- Two government soldiers were wounded in an encounter with members of the New People’s Army (NPA) early Saturday morning at Sitio Malatunglansan, Barangay Marcelino of this town.
According to police reports, a military platoon belonging to the 1st Infantry Battalion was conducting combat operations when they were fired upon by about 20 NPA rebels.

Two soldiers sustained gunshot wounds and were immediately rushed to a military hospital.

The military and police forces led by Police Senior Inspector Reden Romasanta, chief of police here, identified the wounded soldiers as Private First Class Domericar Gepitulan and Jose Aquino, both operative of the 1st IB, Alpha Company.

Meanwhile, Quezon Police Director Senior Supt. Ronaldo Genaro Ylagan has ordered his troops to be more vigilant because of the attack that occurred in Algeria police station in Surigao Del Norte last Thursday, where two policemen were wounded.
