All systems go for ADAS 2014

From the Philippine News Agency (Jul 13): All systems go for ADAS 2014

The Philippines will host its first ever Asian Defense Security (ADAS) and Crisis Management this coming July 16 to 18.

The event will be held at the World Trade Center in Pasay City.

Organizers of ADAS 2014 announced that President Benigno S. Aquino will be the guest-of-honor.

Other VIP guests include Defense Secretary Voltaire T. Gazmin, Defense Undersecretary Honorio S. Azcueta and senior government and military officials.

ADAS 2014 is the first defense and security exhibition to be held in the Philippines for more than 15 years, reflecting the emphasis on the defense modernization program being undertaken by the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).

The Philippine government and the AFP have structured a 15-year defense program to provide a modern and effective military capability as a deterrent and to defendnational interests.

The AFP Modernization Act is currently in the first five-year phase of activity and already significant progress has been made in acquiring new aircraft, naval vessels, helicopters and armored vehicles.

It should be noted that ADAS 2014 is more than just a defense exhibition, its scope is far broader.

This reflects the deep government interest in such critical areas as security, civil defense, disaster relief and humanitarian assistance.

The ADAS 2014 exhibition features 130 international companies from 16 different countries including the United States, the UK, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Sweden, the Republic of Korea, Israel, Turkey, Brazil, Czech Republic, Lithuania, Malaysia and Belarus.

There is also a substantial local presence, including the Government Arsenal and local companies such as Propmech and Stone of David.

Additionally the local media and the international defense press will also be in attendance.

The Philippine Army, the Philippine Air Force and the Philippine Navy will use ADAS 2014 to showcase their skills and capabilities to a national and international audience.
