On behalf of the National Executive Committee, we welcome the affiliation of COMPATRIOTS as a member organization of the National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDFP).
COMPATRIOTS is the revolutionary organization of overseas Filipinos and their families. It has members both inside and outside the Philippines, and works to unite the broadest number of Filipinos overseas and their families to join and advance the people’s democratic revolution.
COMPATRIOTS upholds the program and constitution of the NDFP. It accepts the leadership of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) and recognizes the role of the New People’s Army (NPA) in the people’s democratic revolution.
COMPATRIOTS is committed to the principle of proletarian internationalism. It links the struggle of the Filipino people to the revolutionary and anti-imperialist struggle of the working class and the various democratic classes all over the world. It recognizes that an important contribution to the advancement of internationalism is to advance the people’s democratic revolution with a socialist perspective in the Philippines.
The semicolonial and semifeudal conditions in the Philippines have bred the labor export policy of the reactionary Philippine state, and have since the 1970s systematically exported and exploited Filipino labor abroad. Under the current US-Aquino regime, the labor export policy has earned billions of dollars for the Philippine economy, but has intensified the abuse and exploitation, and the rape of the honor and dignity of Filipinos overseas. Upon return to the homeland, Filipino overseas workers find themselves once again immersed in the same perennial misery and poverty.
Thus, only a revolutionary change in the system thru a people’s democratic revolution will destroy the reactionary and anti-people rule of a few who control and exploit Philippine society. A democratic revolution will liberate the democratic classes and sectors, and will pave the path towards genuine social change.
Together with all the member-organizations of the NDFP, COMPATRIOTS further strengthens and advances the people’s victory in the fight for national and social liberation.
