OV-10 Bronco 630 pilot remains found in Puerto Princesa

From the Philippine News Agency (Dec 4): OV-10 Bronco 630 pilot remains found in Puerto Princesa

Divers belonging to the Task Force Bronco (TFB) have found early morning Wednesday the remains of a still unidentified pilot believed to be one of two, who flew the OV-10 Bronco 630 that went missing in June this year.

Brigadier General Conrado Parra Jr., the wing commander of the 570th Composite Tactical Wing and the head of the TFB, told the Philippines News Agency (PNA) that the remains are being recovered as of this posting.

“We cannot identify yet, who it is, and we will seek the help of the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) to help on this,” Parra Jr. said.

The missing pilots are Maj. Jonathan Ybanez and 1st Lt. Abner Trust Nacion, who went officially listed as “missing” the crash of the OV-10 Bronco 630 while trying to return to the Camp Antonio Bautista Airbase in Puerto Princesa on June 23 from a night proficiency test flight.

Parra Jr. said the remains were found when the TFB conducted an inspection dive Wednesday morning to check if the main wreckage has moved since it was located a few days ago before the 15th Strike Wing can come to manage recovery operations.

The remains of a pilot were found still strapped in the OV-10 Bronco 630’s seat near the shore of BM Beach in Barangay San Manuel, adjacent the main wreckage.

“The seat was found near the main wreckage, and the divers found the remains of a pilot still strapped, wearing his flight suit and helmet,” he added.
