24 MNLF detainees transferred to BJMP facility in Zambo

From  the Philippine News Agency (Oct 3): 24 MNLF detainees transferred to BJMP facility in Zambo

Twenty-four of the more than 200 Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) rebels detained in San Ramon Prison and Penal Farm were transferred Thursday to the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP)-administered Zamboanga City Reformatory Center (ZCRC).

ZCRC Warden Chief Insp. Julius Arro said transferred from the penal farm are those who surrendered last Sept. 17 to former local police director Senior Supt. Jose Chiquito Malayo at the height of the standoff.

Arro said they were transferred to the ZCRC for their safety since the police do not want them together with MNLF rebels who were captured.

Arro said they were detained altogether in one of the ZCRC detention cells.

Arro said the MNLF fighters who surrendered are considered as among the high risk detainees due to their participation in the standoff in this city.

The ZCRC now has a total of 74 high risk inmates with the transferred of the 24 MNLF rebels.

As this developed, Arro has asked for augmentation of personnel or from the police to help them secure the ZCRC.
