Bomb explosion rocks Zamboanga Sibugay town

From the Philippine News Agency (Sep 27): Bomb explosion rocks Zamboanga Sibugay town

The authorities are conducting a thorough probe to unmask the people behind the Thursday night bombing of a bridge in the province of Zamboanga Sibugay, the police said Friday.

Police Regional Office-9 (PRO-9) information officer Chief Insp. Ariel Huesca disclosed the bombing of the bridge took place around 7:45 p.m. Thursday in Barangay Muyo in Buug, Zamboanga Sibugay.

Huesca said no one was wounded when the bomb exploded as a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) was passing on the bridge en route to Ipil, the capital of Zamboanga Sibugay province.

Huesca said the explosion has caused panic among the SUV passengers and “luckily, no one was injured as the result of said explosion.”

He said that there was power failure in almost the entire town of Buug prior to the explosion.

He said the bridge remains passable to all types of vehicles since the bomb explosion did not cause any structural damage.

The police in the town of Buug are conducting follow-up and thorough investigation “in order to determine the identity of the suspect and the motive as well,” Huesca said.
