ANOTHER bidding for the 21 refurbished helicopters UH-1H “Huey” helicopters worth P1.2 billion will be conducted as the Bids and Awards Committee (BAC) of the Department of National Defense (DND) reportedly disqualified a bidder for alleged “document inconsistencies” during a post qualification conference recently.
The acquisition of the 21 helicopters is among the big-ticket items on the list of the Defense department.
The DND-BAC reportedly dropped the winning bidder, Rice Aircraft Services Inc. (Rasi), during the post-qualification conference after it found out “inconsistencies” in its bidding documents. A source, however, declined to give details about the alleged inconsistencies of the documents to protect his identity.
“The bidding [process] is back to zero,” the source said.
Six suppliers bought bid documents for the 21 helicopters but only the US-based Rasi and Star Defense System-Radom Israel joined the bidding.
Rasi’s web site indicate that the company is a privately held and operated corporation based in North California. It specializes in suppling Bell Helicopters models 204, 205, 212, 412 and UH-1B, C, D, F, H, L, M and N.
“We offer shop and field support for both engines and helicopters, maintain stock [overhauled] dynamics for all helicopters listed above, and specialize in the T53 series engines as well as the Pratt & Whitney PT-6 Twin Pac” the website said.
