One soldier was reported injured while 190 families were evacuated following a series of clashes between government troops and New People's Army (NPA) rebels in Davao del Norte Thursday, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said late Friday. In its report, the NDRRMC said the clashes occurred at 12:30 p.m. Thursday at Sitio Mamaon in Barangay Pinamuno; Sitio Mamalian in Barangay Datu Balong; and Purok Sentro in Barangay Monte Dujali in San Isidro, Davao del Norte. The NDRRMC said 300 members of the NPA had been seen at Barangay Monte Dujali conducting "checkpoints" and "pulong-pulong" (meetings) with residents. Injured in the encounter was an unidentified soldier from the Army's 10th Infantry Battalion. The encounter had been between the Army's 60th Infantry Battalion and the NPA. Evacuated from their homes were:
  • 73 families from Barangay Pinamuno
  • 42 families from Barangay Datu Balong
  • 75 families from Barangay Monte Dujali
The NDRRMC said the affected families were brought to their respective barangay halls.
