From the Philippine News Agency (Nov 6): Bomb experts defuse suspected IED in
Tacurong City
Operatives of the Explosives and Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team of the Philippine
Army defused a suspected bomb left inside the baggage counter of a mall in
Tacurong City in Sultan Kudarat province, minutes before noon Tuesday, reports
said.
The suspected bomb placed inside a white sack, however, turned out to be a
fake, according to Inspector Ariel Moralejo of Task Force Talakudong.
“After the blast, we saw only bananas,” said Moralejo.
What was surprising, though, he said, was that the K-9 of the EOD sat near
the sack, which was an indication that there was ‘something’ inside it. The sack, according to the guard assigned at the baggage counter of Tacurong
Fitmart, was left by a still unidentified costumer.... The EOD, Task Force Talakudong, and other police units have been on alert
after an improvised explosive device (IED) placed outside a government bank
along the highway in Tacurong City went off last month....
