Policemen and soldiers on Tuesday afternoon successfully pushed back marauding members of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) from a remote farming district in North Cotabato’s Kabacan town that they plundered after villagers refused to shell out “protection money” and provide them food. Five wounded BIFF bandits were seen being carried away by their comrades as they left Barangay Paatan in Kabacan after members of the local police force and combatants of the Army’s 7th Infantry Battalion came close and started pounding their positions with shoulder-fire 40 MM grenades and 60 MM mortars. Text messages have been circulating since noontime Tuesday that three BIFF bandits were killed in the ensuing firefight, but neither the police nor the military have an actual body count of enemy fatalities....
