WESTCOM: Team 101st Infantry Brigade and Moro Islamic Liberation Front Commanders Converge for Peace Dialog in Basilan

Isabela City, Basilan - On Tuesday, February 06, 2024, the 101st Infantry (Three Red Arrows) Brigade, led by its Commander, Brigadier General Alvin V Luzon, welcomed the commanders of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front in Basilan at Headquarters, 45th Infantry (Gallant) Battalion in Barangay Bohe Pahu, Ungakaya Pukan, Basilan Province, purposely to meet with the military commanders for coordination and collaboration.

While awaiting the demobilization and normalization of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front, the Local Government Unit of Basilan, in cooperation with the joint Coordinating Committee on the Cessation of Hostilities (CCCH), the Moro Islamic Liberation Front leadership, and the 101st Infantry Brigade with its maneuver battalions have been making significant strides in ensuring that the Basilan Province achieves the peace, security, and prosperity it deserves.

In his message, Brigadier General Luzon reiterated the importance of constant dialogue to establish a common understanding in fostering peace in the province of Basilan. He also reaffirmed the 101st Infantry Brigade’s commitment to achieving lasting and peaceful relationships with all the communities in the province. He further emphasized the importance of mutual respect, understanding, and cooperation in achieving this goal.

“Today marks a continuing commitment and sustainment of our shared paths to peace and understanding. We, in the armed forces, are sincere in our partnerships; we are here to serve and protect the people, including the members of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front and their community,” he added.

Attending the peace dialogue were Hadji Samad Ahaddin, Moro Islamic Liberation Front-CCCH; Commander Huram Malangka of Moro Islamic Liberation Front-BIAF base in Upper Ulitan, Ungkaya Pukan; Commander Katmir Batahang of Moro Islamic Liberation Front-BIAF base in Lower Ulitan, Ungkaya Pukan; Ustadz Hakim Dugmo of Moro Islamic Liberation Front-BIAF base in Ulitan Proper, Ungkaya Pukan; Commander Immamul Mande of Moro Islamic Liberation Front-BIAF base in Bohe Suyak, Ungkaya Pukan; Commander Totong Ausal of PPF base in Baguindan, Tipo-Tipo; Abdulbazar J Amad, Moro Islamic Liberation Front-BIAF Focal in Ungkaya Pukan; Honorable Ahmadin Barahim, Vice Mayor of Ungkaya Pukan; Honorable Ismael Morgan, Chairman of Barangay Amaloy; Honorable Jemar Aslamtu, Chairman of Barangay Bohe Suyak; representative from Joint Peace and Security Team (JPST); Colonel Frederick M Sales, Deputy Brigade Commander, 101st Infantry Brigade; Lieutenant Colonel Abel Potutan, Commanding Officer 64IB; Lieutenant Colonel Michael Colanta, Commanding Officer 45IB, and Company Commanders and its key officers.
