WESTMINCOM: Troops discover arms cache in Lanao del Sur

Camp Navarro, Calarian, Zamboanga City – June 19, 2023

While conducting combat patrol, soldiers from Joint Task Force ZamPeLan discovered an arms cache in Barangay Bulawan, Marogong, Lanao del Sur, on Saturday, June 16, 2023.

Troops recovered one Cal .50 Sniper rifle with two bandoliers and four magazines in the arms cache left by the group of Daulah Islamiyah-Maute Group subleader Ustadz Nasser Daud.

Lt. Gen. Roy Galido, Commander of Western Mindanao Command, commended the troops of Joint Task Force ZamPelan, led by Maj. Gen. Antonio Nafarrete, for this remarkable accomplishment.

“Our troops remain steadfast in clearing the communities from the remnants of the different threat groups and eliminating the tools of violence and terrorism,” Lt. Gen. Galido said.

“With all the positive results of our operations, we will continue to intensify our combat and non-combat operations to sustain the momentum. We call on all peace-loving citizens to support our relentless campaign to defeat the local terrorists and promote internal security in our joint area of operations,” Lt. Gen. Galido added.
