MANILA, Philippines — Filipino and Indonesian soldiers on Monday concluded a training activity that is part of the Philippines’ push for improving international defense relations.

The Armed Forces of the Philippines in a statement said Brig. Gen. Freddie Dela Cruz, regiment commander of the First Scout Ranger Regiment (FSRR), presided over the closing ceremony of the 15th iteration of Training Activity Dolphine XV-23.

The training was held at the FSRR headquarters in Camp Tecson in San Miguel, Bulacan.

Just this month, the Philippines and Australia started their nearly six-week bilateral military exercises. This was held two weeks after Balikatan 2023—where Australian and American soldiers also trained with Filipino troops.

“A total of 40 Filipino and Indonesian soldiers trained side by side in jungle warfare operations, urban operations, and sniping operations during the Philippine-Indonesian military exercise that started last May 21,” the AFP said.

“The training activity bolstered the tactics, techniques, and procedures as well as sustained the existing partnership between the two military forces,” it added.

The AFP added that the conclusion of the training activity Dolphine XV-23 marked the two armed forces’ “robust partnership and collaborative efforts toward building stronger relations and enhancing training and education programs for both countries.” — with report from Kaycee Valmonte
