Eight significant personalities of the communist terrorist group laid down their arms and surrendered to the 7th Infantry Battalion in Barangay Masiag, Bagumbayan, Sultan Kudarat on Wednesday morning, July 20, 2022.

Surrendered personalities were identified as a.k.a. Tomas and a.k.a. Detry, Squad Leaders of Platoon Ulayan (LGU 3) of East Daguma Front (EDF), Sub-Regional Command (SRC) Daguma, Far South Mindanao Region (FSMR); a.k.a. John and a.k.a. Jayvee/Johnyboy, Team Leaders of Segunda, Platoon Yakal (LGU 1) of West Daguma Front (WDF), SRC Daguma, FSMR; a.k.a. Dani/Ramon, Platoon Medic of Platoon Yakal (LGU 1) of WDF, SRC Daguma, FSMR; a.k.a. Saymon, Squad Leader of Primer, Platoon Dabu-Dabu, SRC Daguma, FSMR, and; a.k.a. Ivan, Squad Medic of Platoon Timlas, EDF, SRC Daguma, FSMR.

Based on the revelation of the former rebels, they decided to surrender because of the no-let-up Community Support Programs (CSPs) and Focused Military Operations (FMOs) in the area which resulted in their significant losses not only in terms of manpower but also in their mass base which further led to starvation, frustration, and discomfort.

During their surrender, the CTG personalities turned over one 5.56mm M16 Carbine, one cal. 30 M1 Carbine, one M14 rifle converted to M16, two KG9 machine pistols, one Ingram, one M79 grenade launcher with three 40mm high explosives, one 12-gauge shotgun, and assorted magazines and ammunition.

Surrendered personalities were presented to Col. Michael Santos, Commander of the 603rd Infantry Brigade, and were subsequently placed under the custody of 7IB for custodial debriefing and proper disposition.

“I would like to congratulate the 7th Infantry Battalion for convincing this group to surrender peacefully,” Lt. Gen. Allfredo Rosario, Jr. said. “As soldiers, it is also our fervent desire to have peaceful communities in the entire country; hence, we will continue to welcome those who wish to embrace peace.”
