NPA Terrorist dies in a clash against Army’s 65IB in Agusan del Sur

Sibagat, Agusan del Sur- A Communist NPA Terrorist (CNT) was left behind dead by fleeing comrades after an encounter against the troops of 65th Infantry (Stalwart) Battalion who were able to captured one (1) high-powered firearm, one (1) anti-personnel mine, two (2) backpacks, personal belongings and several ammunitions at uninhabited area of Sta. Cruz, Sibagat , Agusan del Sur on July 22, 2020.
 
Troops of 65IB were on security operation when the troops engaged in a firefight with more less ten (10) CNTs operating in the area of Sibagat and Bayugan City both in Agusan del Sur that lasted for about fifteen (15) minutes before the terrorists withdrew leaving behind their dead comrade.

The said operation was based on the collective information received by this unit from the local populace of said barangay. According to the locals, the CNTs came down from the mountains asking for food supplies. With this, 65IB launched its security operation to ensure the safety and protection of the residents.

After the encounter, troops were able to clear and secure the area and monitor the presence of fleeing enemy and probable route.

The cadaver was turned over to Sibagat Police station for proper disposition and coordination to inform the family.

Lt Col. Emerson P De Vera, Commanding Officer, 65IB said "This yet another meaningless death of a NPA terrorist would not have occurred if only they heeded the governments call for them to surrender and avail the benefits of the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (ECLIP). Our troops will not stop until the communities in our area will be freed from NPA terrorists’ harassment and intimidation."

Government troops of 65IB are still on pursuit operation.
