The 8th Infantry (Dependable) Battalion together with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Bukidnon Provincial Office grants livelihood kits to 52 Former Rebels (FRs) of Malaybalay City and municipality of Impasugong both in Bukidnon province during the Livelihood Seeding Program (LSP), Negosyo Serbisyo sa Barangay (NSB) and pangkabuhayan sa Pagbangon at Ginhawa (PPG) Program Distribution of Livelihood Kits on June 24, 2022 at Brgy St. Peter, Malaybalay City, Bukidnon.

Lt. Col. Anthony A Bacus, Commanding Officerof the 8th Infantry Battaion, together with Ms Alren Gem Gay T Neri, Trade Industry Development Specialist Bukidnon spearheaded the distribution of sari-sari store and bigasan livelihood packages to the said FRs assisted by Brgy St. Peter Chairman Hon Robencio T Organiza.


“We are bringing the services of the national government through DTI and other government agencies to the remote barangays and conflict affected areas of the country, ” PPG Coordinator Pracueles said.

Pracueles also emphasized that President Duterte as the Chairperson of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF ELCAC) is there to help the people affected by the insurgency including those former rebels who are now suportive and in one with the government.

Meanwhile, Ms Diden Landasan, one of the former rebel beneficiary, expressed her deep gratitude to DTI and the national government for the assistance they received. “Daghang salamat sa DTI ug sa atong gobyerno para sa PPG livelihood grant. Dako ni nga tabang para kanamo kanhi mga rebelde sa pagsugod namu og bag-ong panginabuhi.” (Thank you very much to DTI and to our government for this PPG livelihood grant. This is a big help for us former rebels as we start a new life. She also encouraged the beneficiaries to properly manage the pangkabuhayan Kit they received.

“Pinaagi niining livelihood starter kit na gihatag sa atong gobyerno para sa atong mga igsuon nga mi surrender gikan sa kalihukan, matuman na gyud ang ilang mga pangandoy na magsugod ug usab ug maabot ang kahimtang na angay nilang makab-ot ug mabuhing malinawon uban ang ilang pamilya ug mabati ang presensya ug ang pag-amoma sa atong gobyerno ngadto sa ilaha,” Lt. Col. Bacus said. (With this livelihood starter kit provided by the government for our brothers and sisters who have turned their back from the movement , this will surely give them the chance to start a new beginning and to live peacefully with their families that they deserved. This will also let them feel that they were not ignored by the government)

It can also be recalled that the NICA Region 10 under the leadership of Director Manuel M Orduña in partnership with Cooperative Development Authority 10 (CDA-10) together with the 403rd Infantry Brigade under BGen. Ferdinand T Barandon also launched the Pre-Registration Seminar on May 25, 2022 as a way to help capacitate the People’s Organizations and other local cooperatives managed by the Former Rebels in the 4ID area of responsibility.
