Camp Navarro, Calarian, Zamboanga City – November 15, 2021

Joint elements of Joint Task Force Zamboanga and the police conducted a buy-bust operation relative to violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act at La Terazza Hotel, Gov. Camins Avenue, this city in the wee hours of November 14, 2021. This resulted in the apprehension of an Army corporal and two civilians.

Corporal Alkhaizer Balboa, 36 years old, married, and a resident of Sinunuc, Zamboanga City; Rodolfo LLenado, Jr., 37 years old, also a resident of Sinunuc; and Remar Hadjiri, 43 years old, and a resident of Upper Calarian, this city were caught having in possession several government-issued firearms and ammunition. Confiscated by the operatives were two Colt M16 rifles, one M60 Machine Gun, one M653 rifle, one Colt MKIV cal. 45 with one inserted magazine assembly loaded with seven cal. 45 live ammunition, one Swissvale cal. 45 pistol, 14 boxes containing cal. 5.56 live ammunition, one dusted brown envelope containing 800 PhP1, 000.00 bills (buy-bust money), 74 cal. 45 empty shells, one ammunition case, one magazine assembly for cal. 45 loaded with six live ammunition, and one ammunition box.

Based on the report, a test buy operation was conducted on November 2 which attested to the illegal activity of Corporal Balboa. His movements have been monitored since then until the follow-up operation early this morning.

According to Maj. Gen. Alfredo Rosario, Jr., Commander of Western Mindanao Command, impartial investigation and due process will be observed. “If proven guilty, stiff penalties will be meted out to the soldier who committed the crime. Soldiers are the defenders of the people and the state, hence, anyone who violates the law has no place in the ranks of the armed forces,” the commander stated.
