Posted to Kalinaw News (Aug 22, 2021): YFPM initiates “Linggo ng Kabataan”; dubbed as Youth Leadership Summit in Tagbac, Magpet
ARAKAN, COTABATO – Youth For Peace Movement (YFPM) “TALBOS” North Cotabato in partnership with Local Government Unit (LGU) of Magpet, Barangay Local Government Unit (BLGU) of Tagbac, Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) of Tagbac, Municipal Police Station (MPS) of Magpet and 72nd Infantry “Gabay” Battalion successfully conducted Linggo ng Kabataan dubbed as the “3-Day Youth Leadership Summit” to 75 youth participants from Barangay Tagbac held at its respective Covered Court that commenced last August 20, 2021 and culminated today, August 22, 2021.
The said summit with a theme “Transforming food system, youth innovation for Human and Planetary Health” aims to empower the role of youth as nation builders, strengthen camaraderie among participants and develop leadership potentials and good citizenship. It aims to educate the youth a wider perspective on the current issues that hinder peace, progress, acceptance of individual’s responsibility. It was steered thru series of lectures, discussions, group/team-building activities and open forums. The discussions focused on youth infiltration and recruitment of the Communist Terrorist Groups (CTGs). One of the highlights of the summit was the “Gabi ng Kultura” which gives the youth a freedom to express and share their talents.
With the commitment and continuous support of the Local Government of Magpet, BLGU of Tagbac, and Sangguniang Kabataan, they all provided the necessary materials and financial support needed particularly for the meals, snacks, and transportation of the participants and facilitators for the whole duration of the activity.
As part of the culmination program, the elected officials of YFPM Tagbac Chapter 2021 had their oath-taking and vowed to do everything to protect the peace and order and empower the youth not just in their barangay, but in the whole municipality as well.
“This is the first time that we experienced an activity involving our youth here in Barangay Tagbac and we know that this is just the beginning. We are very much fortunate that our LGU is very active in supporting this activity. Rest assured that the youth of Brgy Tagbac will do its best to contribute in protecting the peace and order in our Municipality.” Hon. Wille Ambit, SK Chairman of Brgy Tagbac.
This activity gave not only happiness to the participants but also gained a new perspective in life as “Kabataan ang Pag-asa ng Bayan”. In response, the 72nd Infantry “Gabay” Battalion under Lieutenant Colonel Jose C Regonay Jr, Commanding Officer assured that the unit will wholeheartedly support and empower the youth in North Cotabato. He assured that 72IB will give its full commitment to further prevent the Communist Terrorist Groups from stealing a bright future that awaits our youth.
As the Guest Of Honor And Speaker (GOHAS), Hon. Jay Lawrence Gonzaga said in his message, “The Local Government of Magpet will continue to support and give our full cooperation to all upcoming activities involving our youth. Let’s help one another in empowering the youth of Magpet. USWAG MAGPET! USWAG PA MORE!”
