Posted to Kalinaw News (Aug 22, 2021): 2 CPP-NPA Terrorists Die in Silay Encounter
CAMP PERALTA, Jamindan, Capiz – Two CPP-NPA Terrorists (CNTs) and a soldier died in a clash between the Army’s 79th Infantry Battalion and Communist Terrorist Groups (CTGs) in Silay City, Negros Occidental on Friday morning, August 20, 2021.
The troops were conducting combat operation in response to the reported presence of armed CNTs in the area when they encountered more or less 10 fully armed remnants of Northern Negros Front (NNF) at the vicinity of Hacienda Raymunda, Barangay Kapitan Ramon of the said city.
The 35-minute firefight resulted in the death of PFC Christopher Alada and two unidentified CNTs.
Aside from the dead bodies of the communist-terrorists, also seized from the encounter site where one (1) M16 rifle with bandolier and backpack containing cellphones, hammock, and ponchos.
“As we mourn the death of PFC Alada who paid ultimate sacrifice in pursuit of peace and progress in Negros Island, we vow to continue our aggressive anti-insurgency drive to put this senseless armed conflict to its end. We will make sure that his death will not go in vain. We will not rest on our laurels until we win what PFC Alada and our soldiers are fighting for,” said Major General Eric Vinoya, Commander, 3ID.
He also called on the Negrenses to continue supporting the government’s peace campaign to end the local armed conflict.
“Fighting the insurgency is now everyone’s business. This is our fight, and we will be victorious if we fight as one,” Major General Vinoya added.
