From Kalinaw News (Jun 24, 2021): Community tip-off leads to recovery of abandoned CTG lair with war materiel in Aurora

Fort Magsaysay, Nueva Ecija – An abandoned Communist Terrorist Group’s (CTG) lair and assorted war materiel were discovered by the troops of the 91st Infantry (Sinagtala) Battalion, Philippine Army following the information given by the community at the vicinity of Sitio Tordil, Barangay San Ildefonso, Casiguran, Aurora on June 23, 2021.

Lieutenant Colonel Reandrew P. Rubio, Commanding Officer of 91IB, said that the abandoned lair was believed to be owned by Platoon North of the Aurora Provincial Committee of the NPA.
Acting on the tip-off, the troops of Bravo Company, 91IB led by 1st Lieutenant Jevie J. Sagragao, immediately conducted an operation at the said area at around 7:30 in the morning.

Among the recovered items at the abandoned lair were 30 rounds of ammunition for M14 rifle; 6 magazines for M14; 1 poncho; 3 load cards (1 smart, 2 globe); 1 CD; 1 bandoleer for M14; and 4pcs topographic maps.

“We are very thankful to the community for providing us information that led to the recovery of war items. I am commending the effort of our soldiers for their immediate action, and our troops are scouring the area,” LTC Rubio said.

Meanwhile, the Commander of the 7th Infantry (Kaugnay) Division, Philippine Army, Major General Alfredo V. Rosario Jr., lauded the support of the community, emphasizing that the tip-off is the result of the effective implementation of the Community Support Program (CSP) in their Barangays where the Army is pouring effort to inform communities on how CTGs disrupt their peace and development.

“Ang mga tao na mismo ang ayaw sa kanilang presensya dahil hindi na sila ngayon matatakot pa ng mga teroristang grupo. Narito kami upang kayo ay protektahan. Kaya nananatili ang aming panawagan sa patuloy ninyong pagsuporta sa mga kasundaluhan. Dahil sa pagkakaisa lamang tayo magiging malaya sa kamay ng mga terorista,” MGEN Rosario said.
