From Kalinaw News (Jun 24, 2021): 60 IPs undergo Youth Awareness Program in Aurora town
BALER, Aurora – Some 60 youths from an Indigenous People’s Community attended the IP Youth Awareness Program (IPYAP) facilitated by the Philippine Army’s 91st Infantry ‘Sinagtala’ Battalion (91IB), 7th Infantry ‘Kaugnay’ Division, Philippine Army in collaboration with the Local Government Unit of Dingalan at the Gymnasium, Barangay Poblacion, Dingalan, Aurora, on Wednesday, June 23, 2021.
Lieutenant Colonel Reandrew P Rubio, Battalion Commander of 91IB said in an interview that personnel of Alpha Company 91IB 7ID PA, led by 1st Lieutenant Roberto G Apelado Jr, Civil Military Operation Officer, facilitated the activity together with Mayor Shierwin Taay’s administrator Shiella H. Taay who served as Guest of Honor and Speaker.
Lieutenant Colonel Rubio said that Mayor Taay lauded the activity and manifested his full support to the plans and programs of 91IB, saying that the program would develop the talents, skills and the youth role in nation-building as “Ang Kabataan ang Pag-asa ng Bayan”.
“Our youth is considered as the most vulnerable from manipulation and deception of the terrorists, hence, we teach and train them to know their rights in order not to be deceived by lies and propaganda of the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG). Our government, through the whole-of-nation approach, has been filling the gaps to our IPs, the convergence of our efforts and resources will help them to be much better and defeat insurgency,” Lieutenant Colonel Rubio said.
Also attended as lecturers were Police Lieutenant Jetro Amengan, OIC of Dingalan Municipal Police Station; Jan Michael A. Rigdao, representative from Community and Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO); Hannah Marie A. Dizon MLGOO/DILG; Dr. Lani Veronica N. Cebedo, municipal health office (MHO); Willilen S. Padio, Chief/AO IV NCIP representative and personnel of the municipal disaster risk reduction and management office (MDRRMO) as medical team headed by Ruel T. Gonzales.
The activity was participated by 6 Students IP Youth from Barangay Ibona, 22 Students IP Youth from Barangay Umiray, 5 students from barangay Dikapanikian, 21 Students IP Youth from Barangay Matawe, 6 Students IP Youth from Barangay Caragsacan, all in Dingalan town.
