From Kalinaw News (Jun 10, 2021): 2 Dawlah Islamiya Terrorists Neutralized in South Cotabato

Camp Siongco, Maguindanao – Two (2) Dawlah Islamiya Maguid Group terrorists were neutralized by the composite teams of the 5th Special Forces Battalion and Polomolok Municipal Police Station during a joint law enforcement operation at Purok 5, Barangay Rubber, Polomolok, South Cotabato on the early morning of June 6, 2021.

The suspects, identified as Emilton Abedin Ampatuan and one (1) unidentified male, exchanged fire with security forces during the serving of a search warrant which resulted in their wounding. Security forces immediately rushed both suspects to Polomolok Municipal Hospital for medical intervention but were declared dead on arrival by attending physicians.

Lieutenant Colonel Zandro Alvez, Commanding Officer of the 5th Special Forces Battalion, disclosed that security forces were able to seize from the suspects one (1) Thompson sub-machine gun, one (1) caliber .38 pistol, and one (1) rifle grenade and without any casualty from the government forces.

601st Infantry Brigade Commander, Brigadier General Roy Galido said elements from the 5th Special Forces Battalion supported the PNP Polomolok personnel in serving the search warrant when the suspects engaged them in a firefight. “The members of the 601st Brigade are one with the PNP in addressing threat groups and individuals,’ Brigadier General Galido said, adding that the recent law enforcement operation is another blow against the DI-Maguid Group.

It was just on June 2, 2021, when a sub-leader of the Dawlah Islamiya Maguid Group surrendered to security forces in Isulan, Kudarat, while another sub-leader of the said terrorist group was neutralized during a military operation in Brgy. Dapiawan, Datu Saudi Ampatuan, Maguindanao on May 12, 2021.

Furthermore, Major General Juvymax Uy, Commander of JTF Central and 6th Infantry Division, lauded the 5th Special Forces Battalion for their continuing support to law enforcement agencies to curb lawlessness, criminalities, and terrorist threats in the JTF Central joint area of operation.

“We will continue to pursue the remaining members of the DI-Maguid Group. Securing the communities and the residents of Central and South-Central Mindanao are our foremost responsibility hence we always ensure that we do our job well with passion and dedication”, said Major General Uy.
