Kuta Heneral Teodulfo Bautista Jolo, Sulu – The three-day Conflict Sensitive Peace Promoting Training (CSPP) for the Implementers of the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) Transformation Program formally culminated at Notre Dame of Jolo College, Jolo, Sulu on May 28, 2021.

During the closing ceremony, Joint Task Force – Sulu and 11th Infantry Division Commander Maj. Gen. William N Gonzales extended his deepest appreciation to the delegates of Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (OPAPP). “Trainings such as this will help us remain steadfast amidst challenges that we may encounter in the future. I am sure the participants have a much deeper understanding of their role in peacebuilding especially in this localized context. For this, I thank the OPAPP team led by Director Jana Gallardo.”

The training was attended by various government and community partner stakeholders to include personnel from 11th Infantry Division, Sulu Provincial Police, instructors from Sulu State College (SSC) and Sulu Provincial Government Unit officials. Accordingly, understanding conflict sensitivity and enhancing peace initiatives were some of the topics discussed during the training. According to OPPAP Project Development Officer Atty. Rey Benitez they will continuously monitor and assess how the participants were able to apply the concepts they introduced during the training.

“We expect that they will be able to actively find resolution to avoid conflict and serve as an instrument to help former and active MNLF members to be open to the government implemented programs.” Maj. Gen. Gonzales highlighted that peace and development is a shared responsibility. “In this complex circumstance, the whole of nation approach is the only way to go. The military, will always feel very honored to take part in implementing the transformation program for our brothers in the MNLF.”
