From Kalinaw News (May 28, 2021): Government troops seize Communist NPA Terrorists war materiel in pursuit operations in Camarines Sur
Camp Elias Angeles, Pili, Camarines Sur – Proving their strong distaste of Communist NPA terroristic acts, residents of Barangay Napolidan, Lupi, Camarines Sur reported to the authorities the war materiel left by Communist NPA Terrorists (CNTs) in their mass base.
At around 7:45 in the morning on May 28, 2021 elements of the 9th Infantry Battalion (9IB) conducted pursuit operations as a respond to the report and seized war materiel owned by CNTs, includes M16 rifle, two caliber .22 rifles, magazines, molotov bomb, bandoliers, backpack, assorted ammunition, cellphones, batteries, camouflage uniform of the Philippine Army, medical paraphernalia and terroristic propaganda materials.
Lt. Col. Emerson Sumilang, Battalion Commander of 9IB, appreciated the support of the local populace highlighting that this gesture is a manifestation of the people’s desire to eradicate communist insurgency in their communities.
Meanwhile, Col. Jaime Abawag, Brigade Commander of 902nd Infantry Brigade, stressed that the seizure of the said war materiel prevented the CNT from using it to threaten communities and spread violence.
Furthermore, Maj. Gen. Henry A Robinson, Commander, Joint Task Force Bicolandia underscored that CNT’s act of leaving their firearms in their mass base is an indication that they no longer have enough members to carry them.
“CNTs are trying so hard to stay relevant and show-off their strength but they cannot deny the fact that they are crumbling down and that their cause is slowly dying,” Maj. Gen. Robinson said.
It can be recalled that on May 26, 2021 one CNT member was killed and a high-powered firearm was captured after an armed encounter between the government troops and CNT in the same town.
The JTF Bicolandia continues to encourage other CNTs to go down the mountains like the 111 surrenderers did in the entire Bicol region.
