Kalinaw News: Another 11 NPA Members Yielded to the Army in Bicol

From Kalinaw News (Mar 6, 2021): Another 11 NPA Members Yielded to the Army in Bicol

CAMP ELIAS ANGELES, Pili, Camarines Sur – Seeing the inhumane and unlawful schemes of the CPP-NPA-NDF, members of the Communist Terrorist Group in Bicol continue to surrender in droves.

This Friday, March 5, eleven regular CTG members yielded to the 902nd Infantry Brigade bringing with them two grand rifles, one bandolier and assorted ammunitions.

Colonel Jaime Abawag Jr., Brigade Commander of the 902nd Brigade recognized the contribution of other government agencies and the local populace in the recent development.

“They are the first batch of surrenderees for the month of March and we expect more to follow in the coming days. We attribute this another accomplishment to the joint effort of our partners in other government agencies and of course, the local populace,” Col. Abawag said.

These new surrenderees, like those who preceded them, will undergo further validation and will be enrolled to the government’s Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP) afterwards.

Major General Henry A. Robinson, Jr., Commander of the Joint Task Force Bicolandia (JTFB) sincerely thanked and congratulated the now considered Former Rebels (FRs) for responding to the persistent call of the government to abandon the NPA’s hopeless cause.

“Since the implementation of EO 70 or the Whole-of-Nation approach, we learned that insurgency is not just a military problem. With all the government agencies rallying to bring the basic goods and services to the people, we are able to identify the underlying problems in our society and find practical solutions.

This 2021, there are new batches of NPA members and supporters yielding to the various units of the 9th Infantry (SPEAR) Division every month.

Last January, a total of 22 regular NPA members surrendered in Sorsogon and Masbate bringing with them 21 high powered firearms and one low powered firearm while six other yielded in Camarines Sur last February turning in five firearms.
