WESTMINCOM: Acknowledges Government Agencies on ELCAC Projects in Zamboanga del Sur

53rd Infantry "Matapat" Battalion

The Philippine Army’s 53rd Infantry “Matapat” Battalion (53IB) acknowledged the different Government Agencies that initiated End Local Communist Armed Conflict (ELCAC) projects in the Province of Zamboanga del Sur during the meeting of the Provincial Peace and Order Council on February 2, 2020 in Pagadian City.

53IB Commanding Officer Lt. Col. Jo-ar Herrera mentioned the Government Agencies’ contributions in collaboration with 53IB including the following:

• Department of Agriculture Livelihood Programs and Capacity-Building

• Department of Interior and Local Government Halfway House and Livelihood Cash Assistance for Former Rebels

• Department of Social Welfare and Development Livelihood and Cash Assistance for Former Rebels

• Technical Education and Skills Development Authority Skills Enhancement Training for Former Rebels

“Our continued partnerships with various Government Agencies has been sustaining our gains in finally ending the local communist armed conflict in the province of Zamboanga del Sur,” Lt. Col. Herrera said.
