SoLeyte PTF-ELCAC facilitates Serbisyo Caravan cum Grand Pulong-Pulong in 2 Bontoc villages

TACLOBAN CITY, Nov. 19 (PIA) -- In a sustained effort to fully implement EO 70, the Provincial Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (PTF-ELCAC) Southern Leyte with its Chairperson, Governor Damian G. Mercado facilitated a Lokal Serbisyo Caravan and Grand Pulong-pulong at Brgy. Hitawos and Hilaan, both of Bontoc, Southern Leyte on November 17, 2020.

A report from the 14th Infantry Battalion stated that barangays Hitawos and Hilaan are ELCAC priority barangays.

The highlights of the caravan, the report said, were the delivery of basic services to the populace. These included tooth extraction that benefitted a total of 83 persons; medical check-up for 190 persons, circumcision/Operation “Tuli” for 54 persons, free haircut for 58 and distribution of food packs/grocery items to 175 households.

Another highlight is the Grand Pulong-pulong, through which, the people were able to get the answers to their issues and concerns directly from different heads of the local and provincial government agencies of Bontoc and Southern Leyte as well as from the national government agencies.

Lt. Col. Roberto Obaob said the 14th Infantry (AVENGER) Battalion together with the Task Force ELCAC will continue to support the program of the government through the delivery of basic services in order to end the insurgency and pursue its commitment to transform Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas and Conflict Affected Areas to a self-reliant and resilient communities for sustainable peace and development.

The event was a convergence, a true manifestation of the whole of nation approach with the attendance and support of the members of the local Task Force-ELCAC: Mayor Jane B. Ruales, Chairperson of the Bontoc Municipal Task Force ELCAC; Hon. Aileen R. Estrera, Board Member, 2nd District of Southern Leyte; Lieutenant Colonel Roberto B. Obaob, Commanding Officer of 14IB; Dir. Elizabeth P. Garcia, Provincial Director, TESDA Southern Leyte; and Dir. Marites Z. Viñas, Provincial Director, DOLE Southern Leyte.
