Sagay City, Negros Occidental – A total of 38 former mass supporters from Brgys Tabun-ac and Bandila denounced the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) and vowed full allegiance to the government during a Peace Rally held at Brgy Tabun-ac covered court, Toboso, Negros Occidental last November 18, 2020.

Through the joint efforts of the Local Government Unit and Agencies (LGU/LGA) of Toboso under the leadership of Mayor Richard Jaojoco, NOCPMFC, 6SAB PNP-SAF, Toboso MPS, and the Army’s 79th Infantry Battalion under the leadership of Lieutenant Colonel Gerard T Alvaran, the mass condemnation against the CTGs was successfully initiated.

The villagers hoisted banners and placards bearing messages denouncing CNTs as purveyors of a useless and meaningless ideology followed by the burning of the CPP-NPA-NDF flag to show their withdrawal of support to the communist movement and affirmed their allegiance to the government.

The Masaligan troopers also distributed food packs and Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP) leaflets. In a statement, Mayor Jaojoco thanked the 79IB, PNP and other partner agencies for bringing peace in his municipality. He also reminded the residents of Brgys Tabun-ac and Bandila to help the government in protecting their communities.

“For over 50 years, we have been dealing with the problem on insurgency. Do not allow the NPA to manipulate and control you. That is why we in the government ensure to bring basic services closer to our constituents. Let us unite and help one another by convincing the rebels to surrender and avail of the government’s E-CLIP program so that we could attain genuine peace and progress in our community,” said Jaojoco.

Meanwhile, Lieutenant Colonel Alvaran said, “This is a clear manifestation that these former mass supporters are already fed up by the lies and deceptions as well as extortion activities perpetrated by the CTGs. The pledge to withdraw their support from the armed group is already a bold step towards ending insurgency.

“To the former mass supporters, we hope for your continued support and participation in our campaign against insurgency and terrorism. As your partner in this endeavor, we will continue to collaborate with the LGUs and stakeholders to help the communities to be resilient against the threats being brought by these peace spoilers,” Alvaran added.
